If you‘ve not been to Dorset Showground before give us a try, the natives are friendly even if the accent is sometimes broad.

Contrary to rumours we are only 20 minutes from the A303 and have two excellent arenas (with permanent watering equipment) set by the river Stour in beautiful countryside.  Come and discover (quote from a popular equestrian magazine) “ Dorset ’s best kept secret”.

On the show jumping side we look forward to welcoming you whether you jump 70cm or 1.35m.  This season we will have 30 new large permanent stables plus the usual temporary ones AND new shower/bathroom facilities.

We have excellent sponsors pavilion overlooking the main arena that is a great place to entertain your owners/sponsors or yourself if you’ve an hour free serving morning coffee, buffet lunch and afternoon tea each show day (bookings only, as space limited).  Menu & price list available on request.

We have the village shop opposite our entrance open 7.00am – 10.00pm , 7 days a week, selling fresh bread, milk, groceries, fuel including gas, newspapers and it’s an off-licence. Also on the same site is Riverside Café, under new management, serving excellent breakfasts, lunches and early evening meals.

The village pub is 100 yards from the showground serves excellent meals and also does bed and breakfast.

We’ve loads of room for barbeques and even the odd football game.

For the not so horsey in your party we have a lovely river walk and are on the Stour Valley Way footpath.  We’ve a mile of coarse fishing on the River Stour, please let us know if you’d like to fish.

Shaftsbury with cobbled Gold Hill (remember the Hovis advert) is 5 miles with many original shops and cafes.  We are also near several National Trust properties including Stourhead.  Coolplay, a children’s adventure area (0 – 11 years) has ballpools,  a mirror maze, rope bridges, interactive stepping stones etc, is 6 miles away at Sturminster Newton and is open seven days a week.
