DORSET SHOWGROUND UPDATE - 4th
August 2010 Both
arenas and warm ups are being and will continue to be watered up to the
show (providing it doesn’t rain of course!) Those of you who don’t jump on grass come and try ours,
you’ll be pleasantly surprised at our fantastic going!!
Bring your owners and treat them to lunch or a cream tea in the
pavilion overlooking the main arena. Permanent
stables have a waiting list for August show.
Temporary stabling is filling up fast, so please those of you who
booked early can I have confirmation as soon as possible for both
permanents and temporaries. August
schedule is on our website together with entry & stabling forms.
We have a 90cm and 1.10m Derby, Bath & West 2011 qualifiers,
National Amateur qualifiers plus our own qualifying classes and finals
throughout the weekend with rugs, trophies, owners prizes to be won. On Sunday 22nd we have a HOYS Amateur Classic qualifier. First
3 qualify direct for HOYS. On
Friday all winners of classes in both arenas win Cream Tea for two at
the pavilion. There is also
a £50 cash prize for the most successful rider at this show. Points
awarded for all classes (affiliated & unaffiliated). Rider with most
points wins £50 cash prize. For
the unaffiliated show jumpers we have Clear Round Jumping, a Novice
Derby (90cm) in the main arena, Minor Championship qualifier & Final
and the Points Championship. The
Points Championship is being hard fought with George Wells &
Rowley in the lead with 18 points, one point behind in 2nd
place on 17 points are Victoria Lavers with Seasons Highcloud,
Toby with George Wells, Katie Porter with Celeste and Olivia Atkins and
Black Brigadeer all not to far behind. There are chances to gain
points on Saturday 21st &
Sunday 22nd . Embroidered
rug for the winner of the points championship presented on Sunday.
Numnah for the runner up. On
Friday evening dinner at the pavilion is help yourself buffet and on
Saturday evening we have a Dorset Beef Casserole or Fish Pie with beer,
cider & wine on sale, bookings please. Don’t
forget to pre-enter classes to keep the cost of your entry fees down and
make life less stressful for our hard working secretaries Angie &
Clive. On
Monday 9th August Dorset
Area BS are arranging show jumping training at Bovington Equestrian.
Open to everyone, horse & pony riders.
Cost is £30 for a 1.5 hour session with an accredited British
Showjumping trainer, small groups of 4 or 5. Please give me a call for
