DORSET SHOWGROUND UPDATE
- 23rd March 2011 Dates
for our BS Summer season are on the website, similar dates to 2010.
Schedules for May & June, three day shows, now on the
website, also unaffiliated evening schedule.
With
the lovely spring weather the winter lawn mowers ( Zwartbale sheep, now
with lambs, they’re very pretty, black & white and somewhat
large!) have been moved out and Paul has cut and rolled the arenas and
warm ups. We’ve
had a long hard look at our showground qualifiers over the winter and as
attendance of the finals has been poor over the last couple of years we
have decided to only run the 1.05m Amateur qualifier/ final this year.
In place of the others we are going to run a points system with
prizes at the end of the season. Categories
will be: Most successful
Under 18, Veteran, Owner, Novice Horse and Open Horse, details in the
schedules. We
will run the unaffiliated points classes together with the Minor
championships, unaffiliated Derbies & Clear Round at the BS shows.
We are also planning to run evening shows with clear round &
unaffiliated jumping and a fun day with Showing and some unaffiliated
jumping with lots of classes for the children and their ponies as well
as the adults. With
evening entertainment in mind, Hog Roast at the June and July three day
shows and dog and owner/groom agility classes in July, (we do seem to
have as many dogs as horses at our shows!)
Would like to run an evening mini puissance in either July or
August (looking for a sponsor or group of sponsors to help with the
prize money, anyone interested please give me a ring, 01747 838 888.)
Please
note the August show will be on Thursday 18th, Friday 19th
& Saturday 20th.
The reason for the change of date is to avoid clashing with Mid
Somerset show on 21st August. We
will be offering competitors the opportunity to extend their stay with
us at no extra cost in order to attend both Mid Somerset Show
(21st ) and Gillingham & Shaftesbury Show
(Wednesday 17th August).
We will be running some junior affiliated classes in August, if
anyone is willing to help us get the Juniors up and running with
sponsorship or ideas of classes they would like please let me know. Looking
